Description

Special Jury Prize for Comedy, 2016 Los Angeles Film Festival

Chee and T are two down-on-their-luck young men coasting by doing odd jobs for Chee’s landlord tycoon Uncle Rob. When they finally decide that collecting rent and threatening civilians isn’t how they want to spend their lives, Uncle Rob gives them a new job: getting Chee’s cousin, Mayunk, to his engagement party. Chee and T think they have scored their easiest job yet but are surprised to find that the once shy and awkward Mayunk has now turned into a foul-mouthed wild child. They race around Palo Alto looking for a suit and haircut for Mayunk, but they’re met with Mayunk’s outrageous personality as well his ever-present knack for locating drugs.

Tanuj Chopra (Punching at the Sun, SDAFF ’06) delivers his signature blend of crude antics and the droll panic over becoming an adult. This latest adventure is a contemplation on how selfish the world can be, and the cruelty of Uncle Rob’s favorite word: family. –Aleya Zenieris
