Description

Disillusioned with his job, recently-widowed insurance agent Lee Kang-soo (Kim Nam-gil) drudges through each day. When his boss assigns him to investigate a car accident, Lee finds his client, the blind Mi-so (Chun Woo-hee), bedridden in a coma. During his days at the hospital though, Lee runs into a woman also claiming to be Mi-so. Even more unusual is the revelation that he is the only one who can see her, and so he enters into conversations, and then intimate walks, with what may be Mi-so’ spirit. What might otherwise be spooky becomes for this grieving man the best parts of his day, the small adventures that make him feel alive and special in an unsympathetic world.

ONE DAY is a moving ode to the partners that reveal themselves on the hinterlands between life and death. Acclaimed director Lee Yoon-ki (My Dear Enemy) finds in the ghostly the lengths to which healing and letting go require vast leaps of fate and excursions away from the trivialities of work. As the two spend their days wandering the hospital grounds, sensitive states of recovery and transcendence emerge, as if waking from a dream. –Aleya Zenieris
